The Electricity of Now: Poems and Wiggly Lines

The Electricity of Now: Poems and Wiggly Lines
by Carol J. Brighton
2022

“Carol J. Brighton’s new book, The Electricity of Now (Berkeley: Quelquefois Press), is an artist’s book to the core. The author, a practicing fine artist and paper maker, wrote the poems; hand-set the type; carved linoleum blocks; printed the pages on a letterpress; and made the cover paper, with its cast Enso. These elements work together to convey her spare yet rich observation of the worlds we inhabit—outer, inner, present, past, future.

It is the mapping that matters, the voyage, the persistent attention to close detail and far cosmogony; the willingness to question. This book invites the reader to follow suit, in her or his own unprecedented way. Carol J. Brighton’s book recalibrates our places in the universe and lets a delicate harmony be felt.”
~ Lisa Rappoport poet and proprietor, Littoral Press

The 48 page hardcover book, 9.5” x 6.5”, is in a German case binding with handmade paper covers and end sheets. The linocut illustrations are foot prints walking through the pages of “wiggly” lines that describe land, sea and moon filled skies. This is a signed numbered edition of 60 copies.
